Fantasy Player of the Day: Padres Outfielder Cameron Maybin

For the second time in two days, an opposing hitter has had a multi-HR game at Coors Field against Rockies pitching. On Thursday, Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran hit 3 HRs and drove in 6 runs and was named the Fake Teams Fantasy Player of the Day. Last night, Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin went 4-4 with 2 HRs, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

Maybin has yet to reach the potential bestowed upon him after being taken with the 10th overall pick in the 2005 Rule 4 draft by the Tigers. Maybin is a 5 tool player who was probably rushed to the major leagues a few seasons ago. Only 24 years old, Maybin has plenty of time to prove his critics wrong, and he is having his best season to date in 2011.

Maybin is hitting .273-.348-.453 with 5 HRs, 13 RBIs, 6 SBs and a 36-16 K/BB rate. He now has back to back 4 hits games and has raised his BA .40 points in the last two days. Maybin is on pace to hit 21 HRs and steal 26 bases this season. I think he can approach 30 SBs playing for manager Bud Black in San Diego.
