Adrian Gonzalez had offseason surgery on his shoulder which affected his draft position in redraft leagues on draft day 2011. Some fantasy owners were concerned that he may not be healthy for the start of the season, or would lose some power this year due to his recovery from the surgery. One couldn't argue if you drafted someone like Ryan Howard before AGonz on draft day, but Gonzalez is making those owners who took the "risk" look smart at this point.
Gonzalez went 3-6 with 2 HRs and 3 RBIs on Tuesday night. One of his HRs tied the game in the 9th inning, as AGonz homered off of Blue Jays closer Frank Francisco.
For the season Gonzalez is hitting .324-.375-.541 with 6 HRs, 24 RBIs and a 25-11 K/BB rate. In his last 10 games, he is 15 for his last 43 with 5 HRs and 13 RBIs. It was just a matter of time before Gonzalez and the Red Sox started scoring some runs.
When healthy, Gonzalez is one of the top hitting first baseman in baseball, and now that he is hitting in the Red Sox lineup, he could put up MVP numbers this year.
