Blue Jays Option Travis Snider To AAA

The Blue Jays have optioned outfielder Travis Snider to AAA Las Vegas after Snider hit just .181-.277-.265 with 1 HR, 12 RBIs and 5 SBs. He had a solid 22-10 K/BB rate with a low .233 BABIP in 83 at bats this season. Last year, Snider hit .255-.304-.463 with 14 HRs, 32 RBIs and 6 SBs in 298 at bats.

Taking Snider's spot on the Blue Jays roster is first base prospect David Cooper. Cooper hit .257-.327-.442 with 20 HRs, 78 RBIs and a solid 74-52 K/BB rate at AA New Hampshire in 2010. This year, at AAA Las Vegas, Cooper was hitting .395-.438-.617 with 2 HRs and 19 RBIs in 81 at bats.

Las Vegas is one of the best hitting environments in the minor leagues, so one has to take that into consideration when looking at his performance thus far this season.

Cooper is rosterable in deep AL-only leagues, and possibly in deep mixed leagues, but I am not sure how much playing time he will get in Toronto. He could get some starts at 1B and DH.
