Minor League Monitor: Paul Goldschmidt Continues to Mash, Brett Jackson Shines, AA Southern League Review

Randall Delgado gives the Braves another top pitching prospect and he is off to a fast start. He has a 0.90 ERA in 10 innings with 12 Ks.

Wily Peralta has been very impressive in 2011. He has 15 strikeouts in 12.1 innings and has only allowed 4 hits and 2 walks.

Josh Vitters is looking like a top prospect again with a .360 AVG and .640 slugging percentage.

Paul Goldschmidt leads the Southern League with a 1.679 OPS thanks to 5 home runs and 7 walks.

Brett Jackson continues to impress with a .480 AVG, 1.283 OPS and 4 stolen bases.

Strikeout king Matt Moore went 5 shutout innings in his season debut but was beat up for 6 runs in 4.1 innings in his second start. He has a 12/0 K/BB ratio on the young season. If he continues to improve his control he could be the top pitching prospect heading into next season.

Rafael Dolis has a 1.80 ERA in his first 10 innings with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

Dodgers prospect Rubby De La Rosa received a lot of hype in spring training and he is off to a strong start in 2011. He struck out 9 over 5 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run and 3 walks.

Christian Colonel struggled last season and isn't doing much better in 2011. He is off to a 0-17 start with 7 strikeouts.

Brewers prospect Michael Bowman allowed a single hit across 5.1 innings in his season debut.

Diamondbacks center field prospect A.J. Pollock is off to a 10-26 start with 4 doubles.

Cody Scarpetta lasted only 1.1 innings in his first start, giving up 6 runs.

Jarrod Parker was lit up in his first 2011 start. He allowed 8 runs, 7 earned, in 3.2 innings. He struck out 5.

Chris Archer has a 4.15 ERA after his first 2 starts. He has 7 strikeouts and 6 walks in 8.2 innings.

Jake Peavy appears close to returning after logging a 1.86 ERA in 9.2 innings between the Southern League and International League. Yahoo! reports that he could be back by the end of April.

Matt Zaleski has been great in his two starts. He has 11 strikeouts in 12.1 innings and has given up 6 hits, 2 walks and 1 run.

Kevin Mattison leads the Southern League in the categories of stolen bases (6) and awesome mustaches (1)

Dylan Axelrod has been strong to start the season with a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings with a 14/2 K/BB ratio. Axelrod could climb prospect charts if he continues his stellar play.
