Minor League Monitor: Cory Burns Cruises, Casey Crosby and Tony Sanchez Struggle, AA Eastern League Review

Cory Burns has dominated in his 4 saves. He has struck out 10 in 4 innings without giving up an earned run. He could see time in Cleveland this year if he continues his stellar pitching. During his pro career he has a 1.86 ERA over 91.2 innings with 129 strikeouts and 20 walks and is quickly becoming one of the top relief prospects in the minors.

Manny Banuelos pitched 4 scoreless frames giving up 4 hits and a walk while setting down 1 on strikes.

Josh Stinson was converted back into a starter mid-way through last season and is looking strong in that role so far. He is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings with a 9/2 K/BB ratio.

Power hitting Cody Overbeck is having a great start to the season. He is batting .458 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI in 6 games.

Matt Rizotti has 5 doubles and a home run among his 11 hits. His AVG sits at .458.

Stolmy Pimentel got off to a rough start. He has a 15.00 ERA in 3 innings.

Will Middlebrooks has looked good with 3 doubles, a triple, a home run and a .391 AVG.

Xavier Avery has slumped to start the year. He is hitting .174 with 8 stikeouts in 23 at bats.

Bryan Holaday has looked good in his first shot at the high minors. He is hitting .316 with a double and a home run.

Grady Sizemore is hitting well in AA. He is 5-14 with 2 doubles.

Joe Gardner has won both of his starts with a 3.27 ERA despite 8 walks in 11 innings.

Yankees power/speed prospect Melky Mesa has got off to a 4-25 start with 8 strikeouts.

Twins prospect Joe Benson had a breakout year in 2010. He is carrying that success over into 2011. He is batting .391 with a home run and 2 stolen bases.

David Bromberg has a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings but only 1 strikeout.

Austin Hyatt is off to a 2-0 start with 9 Ks in 10 innings. He has a 1.80 ERA on 7 hits and 5 walks. He had a great season last year and could shoot up prospect charts with a strong season this year.

Dellin Betances allowed 4 runs, only 1 earned, in a 4.2 inning outing. He walked 2 and struck out 1.

Casey Crosby lasted only 2.2 innings in his start, giving up 5 earned runs.

Jacob Turner has a 2.08 ERA in 13 innings with a 13/2 K/BB ratio.

Tigers third base prospect Francisco Martinez is struggling in AA with a .125 AVG

The Pirates star catching prospect Tony Sanchez has had trouble getting going this year. He is hitting .190 but has 4 walks to 3 strikeouts.

Bryan Morris has a 1.74 ERA in 10.1 innings this year. He gives the Pirates yet another good looking starting pitching prospect.

Starling Marte has a .367 AVG so far with a home run and a couple swipes. His plate discipline could use some work as he has 8 strikeouts to a lone walk.

Jeff Locke is off to an 0-2 start despite a 1.93 ERA and 10 Ks in 9.1 innings.

Steve Lombardozzi is 0-16. He has hit for a solid average his entire pro career so look for him to break out of the slump soon.

Tyler Moore hit 31 home runs last year but is off to a 2-23 start with 9 Ks.

Brad Meyers has 14 strikeouts and 0 walks in 9.2 innings this season.

Kelvin De La Cruz is 0-2 despite a 0.90 ERA. He has allowed just 3 hits in 10 innings but has walked 7 while striking out 12.

Eric Surkamp was dominant in his first start. He set down 10 on strikes in 4 innings.

Travis d'Arnaud is struggling with a 1-15 start with a caught stealing.

Adeiny Hechevarria is off to a meager 5-27 start.

Bryce Harper watch: Harper hit his first home run of the season and is now batting .240 with 5 RBI and 7 strikeouts.
