Fantasy Baseball 2011: Confidence in Carlos Gonzalez

Coming into the 2010 season, Rockies outfielder was known to fantasy owners, but only due to the fact that he had been traded a few times, and that he had not reached his potential. But, anytime a prospect gets traded a few times, think Brett Wallace, the prospect experts and fantasy owners alike get down on said player.

But Carlos Gonzalez had different plans. Baseball America ranked Cargo as their #22 best prospect in baseball as late as 2008 when he was a member of the Athletics. That offseason, he was traded in the deal that sent Matt Holliday to the A's.

In AAA, Cargo hit .339-.418-.630 with 10 HRs, 59 RBIs and 6 SBs in 192 at bats, earning a promotion to the big club. Up in the bigs, Cargo hit .284-.353-.525 with 13 HRs, 29 RBIs and 16 SBs in 278 at bats. Going into 2010 fantasy drafts, Gonzalez was hyped by many fantasy experts as a "sleeper", but no one could have projected how he would perform in 2010.

Cargo hit .336-.376-.598 with 34 HRs, 117 RBIs and 26 SBs last year. I don't have to go into great detail about what a great year he had last year. What everyone wants to know is whether he can duplicate it this year.

So far this season, he is hitting .323-.371-.387 with 0 HRs, 4 RBIs and 1 SB.

So, how confident are you that Cargo can duplicate his 2010 stats? Please vote in the poll.
