I was reading some of the comments on one of the blogposts over at Razzball on Friday night and found this Experts League Mock Draft results.
The first round went as follows:
1. Albert Pujols
2. Hanley Ramirez
3. Miguel Cabrera
4. Troy Tulowitzki
5. Evan Longoria
6. Joey Votto
7. David Wright
8. Carl Crawford
9. Ryan Braun
10. Carlos Gonzalez
11. Adrian Gonzalez
12. Robinson Cano
More after the jump:
I don't have a problem with any of the 1st round selections, but in the second round, Twins catcher Joe Mauer was the 5th pick made by Rob Gordon of Baseball HQ and he was picked before Ryan Howard, Matt Kemp, Mark Teixeira, Felix Hernandez and Prince Fielder. I don't see Mauer as the top catcher in 2011 or as a second round pick. Too early for me, as one can get Carlos Santana or Brian McCann a few rounds later, with more power.
Actually, Kemp was not taken until the 3rd round after Ubaldo Jimenez and Brian McCann, which I think is a mistake. Kemp is poised to have a big bounceback season. Then in the early 4th round, Justin Upton was taken after the likes of Andre Ether and Buster Posey. Upton has 30-20 potential, while Ethier is looking to bounce back after a sub-par 2nd half and Posey is starting his first full season in the big leagues.
