New Video On Cuban Outfield Prospect Yoenis Cespedes

Rob Neyer from Baseball Nation posted a link to the latest video about Cuban outfield prospect Yoenis Cespedes with some commentary and an excerpt from Baseball Prospectus' Kevin Goldstein. Goldstein received the video from Edgar Mercedes, the president of the Born to Play Academy in the Dominican Republic.

There are plenty of teams interested in Cespedes and some estimate that he will sign a contract in the $50-60 million range, probably sometime in January. I remember hearing Nationals' GM Mike Rizzo say that he thinks Cespedes may need some time in the minor leagues once he signs, but he could be fast tracked to the big leagues depending on which team signs him. Cespedes has excellent power and speed, but some question how good a hitter he will be at the big league level.

It will be interesting to see how his free agency plays out should Prince Fielder still be available. I have a feeling he could garner more attention than Fielder as teams will be more willing to spend $50 million on Cespedes than approximately $200 million on Fielder.

Dynasty and keeper league owners should keep him him in mind come draft day as he "could" be the next 20-20 hitting outfield prospect, and could see time in the majors this season.

Who would you rather have if you had the # pick in the minor league portion of the your 2012 fantasy draft? Anthony Rendon or Yoenis Cespedes?
