Fantasy Hockey 2011: Saturday Starting Backup Goalies (UPDATED)

In case you didn't hear, it wasn't a good night last night for those who drafted elite defensemen and saw them get hurt doing their job. Both Alex Goligoski and Lubomir Visnovsky will be out a month with each a broken finger after blocking a shot. Just a FYI to anyone out there who didn't see the Fanshots earlier. Anyhoo, we're dishing info on backup goalies who have been verified as starting today so you can be able to adjust your lineups accordingly and perhaps make a nifty pickup for those in same-day transaction leagues.

Johan Hedberg, Devils vs. Capitals - The plan was to start Martin Brodeur yesterday and Hedberg tonight. It sounds like he has a pretty good track record against the Caps so he might be worth consideration for those who own him.

Andrew Raycroft, Stars vs. Red Wings - Giving another rare night off for the hot Kari Lehtonen and it seems Raycroft also has a good track record against the Red Wings too. Unsure if he's worth a pickup in same day transaction leagues but if you're feeling risky...

More after the jump...

Peter Budaj, Canadians vs. Predators - Yet ANOTHER goalie with a good track record against their opponent, which is the Preds. I think this would be slightly more favorable the Raycroft vs. Red Wings but it's up to you if you feel like using Budaj.

Mathieu Garon, Lightning vs. Brian Elliott, Blues - Garon is not a great play against the Blues but Elliott's another great play considering his history against the Lightning is pretty good.

Josh Harding, Wild vs. Kings - Let's see if Harding can make it five in a row against a team that he's had a good time against. He'll have to keep playing well if he wants to keep nipping at Niklas Backstrom's heels for playing time.

Thomas Greiss, Sharks vs. Coyotes - Only three starts in his young career vs. the Coyotes but he's done well against them.

UPDATED

Michal Neuvirth, Capitals vs. Devils - He should already be owned but if you do, I would be tempted to start him since he's done a fantastic job against the Devils in four starts.

Brent Johnson, Penguins vs. Hurricanes - He holds a decent record against the Canes in 17 starts in his career.

This will likely get updated in another hour or so, so make sure to check back later to see if anymore backups are starting tonight. Also, don't forget to to follow @FakeTeams and @MattPTurner on Twitter if you have any fantasy hockey questions!
