ESPNDeportes Enrique Rojas is reporting that the Rangers and Adrian Beltre are nearing an agreement rumored to be 5 years. Here is the tweet from Rojas:
Source: Inminent agreement between Beltre and Texas, ESPNdeportes.com report http://es.pn/g7ohiA
But Jon Heyman from SI.com tweeted that the deal is not close and they are talking:
#rangers, beltre are talking. but report of $96-mil agreement out of the DR is said untrue. would be blow to #angels

What Heyman says is true-this signing would be a big blow to the Angels, especially after we all heard that they were going to spend big this offseason. We heard before the GM and Winter meetings that the Angels could sign Beltre, Rafael Soriano and Carl Crawford. Crawford signed with the Red Sox, and it sounds like Beltre is close to signing with the Rangers. Angel fans have to be upset with the inactivity this offseason, for sure.
I was listening to the MLB channel on XM Radio last night, and Joel Sherman was speculating that the Angels could become sellers at the trade deadline this season.
So, should the Rangers sign Adrian Beltre, he could duplicate his 2010 performance hitting in the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. But one has to wonder where current third baseman Michael Young will play. With Elvis Andrus at shortstop and Ian Kinsler at second base, it appears that Young will either move across the diamond to play first base, or be traded.
There were several rumors during the Winter meetings about the Rangers dealing Young to the Rockies. Or the Rangers could move Young to DH, as reported by Evan Grant from the Dallas Morning News:
If Beltre were to sign with Rangers, I think idea would be to move Young to DH/super utility. That's nothing more than semi-educated guess.
Should the Rangers deal Young, there will be several teams interested in his services including the Dodgers, Rockies, Cardinals, among others. Could the Reds sign him to play shortstop?
