Down On The Farm: John Sickels' Updated Rays and Cubs Top 20 Prospects

John Sickels posted his updated Top 20 Rays and Cubs Prospect lists for 2011 on Thursday. He updated the lists for the recent trade which sent Matt Garza from the Rays to the Cubs.

John ranks pitcher Chris Archer as the Rays #5 prospect and here is what he had to say about him:

5) Chris Archer, RHP, Grade B+: Acquired in Garza trade; would be the top pitching prospect in many systems.

And here are John's thoughts on SS prospect Hak-Ju Lee:

10) Hak-Ju Lee, SS, Grade B: Love the glove, and I think the bat has more potential than people think. That is a minority opinion but I will stick with it for now.

With the Ray losing Carl Crawford, Carlos Pena, Rafael Soriano and Grant Balfour, they have 12 of the top 88 picks in the 2011 Rule 4 draft. It is no stretch to think the Rays will once again have the top farm system in baseball at this time next year, as the 2011 draft is considered one of the deepest in quote some time.
