James McDonald is looking like a very nice sleeper for next season. He's pitched well since being traded to the Pirates, and continued that last night with a 7 strikeout, 6 inning performance. I think he's been a beneficiary of the opportunity, and has shown himself to be a solid pitcher. His numbers in Pittsburgh: 3.72 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 54 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched.
Miguel Cabrera was added to the list of players who have been shut down for the season at this point, and should definitely be dropped in redraft leagues to get someone who can provide at bats. Players who have been hot and should qualify at 1B include Garrett Jones of the Pirates and Kila Ka'aihue of the Royals.
There also appears to be some dissension in Seattle about whether or not Felix Hernandez will make his final start of the season on Sunday. There's really no incentive for the Mariners to do this, other than to get him some slightly better numbers to point him toward the AL Cy Young award. Unfortunately, if you are going to need that start, there really isn't anyone you could pick up at this point to help you out.
Chris Young pitched last night, and was looking pretty good for the most part. He's missed nearly all of the season due to injury, and could be a sleeper in deeper leagues for next season. Through 5 innings, he has 6 strikeouts, 5 base runners, and no earned runs allowed.
