Fantasy Football: Week 2 NFL Recaps

The Cowboys and Vikings have really put themselves in a hole as they both lost their second game of the season this week. Other teams have really surprised despite having lingering questions entering the season like the Bears, Dolphins, Steelers and Texans. And there have been some questions raised regarding quarterbacks as Vince Young was removed from his game and Michael Vick had a great performance, which had the Eagles changing their minds. Let's look at the games and what they mean to us as owners.

Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys

- The Bears defense played really well against the Cowboys and yet we were expecting big things from the Cowboys D. The Bears held the Dallas offense to 20 points and 36 yards rushing, had 2 INT and 1 fumble recovery. Chicago will need to bring their A-game again next week against the Packers.

- Dez Bryant made some really nice moves and took one to the house on a punt return in the first quarter. He had a good game- 2 rec for 52 yards and 3 punt returns for 66 yards and a TD. His value should be good this week, as it could be a shootout in Houston.

- Jay Cutler performed really well, especially in a game that many of us thought he would struggle. The Martz offense might be the best thing for him. Cutler was 21 of 29 for 277 yards and 3 TD. He also had 5 rushes for 3 yards.

- Greg Olsen made his one catch count on his 39 yard catch and run for a TD.

- Roy Williams got jacked up in the second quarter and he fumbled the ball in the fourth quarter. He continues to disappoint in the Dallas offense, ending the day with 4 rec for 53 yards.

- The Cowboys got their fullback involved in the passing game. Chris Gronkowski caught 3 rec for 13 yards and a TD. This was probably just a wrinkle in the game plan to keep the Bears and future opponents on their toes.

- Johnny Knox is still dangerous as a deep threat with Cutler finding him deep down the field in the second quarter on a 59-yard bomb. Knox had 4 rec for 86 yards.

- Devin Hester made a highlight reel catch falling out of the end zone. He had a nice afternoon, 4 rec for 77 yards and a TD.

- Jason Witten left the game with a head injury, as he came down his head bounced against the turf. He didn't return to the game. Witten's stats were 5 rec for 51 yards.

- David Buehler missed another FG this season. This one being from 44 yards. He hit on his other two from 28 and 48 yards. He had 8 points in this one.

- Matt Forte caught another touchdown this year, this one to lock up the win for the Bears. He didn't gain much yardage but continues to look like he has a tight grip on the starting RB job for the Bears. He finished with 10 rushes for 29 yards and 5 rec for 37 yards and a TD.

Chicago Bears- QB Jay Cutler- 21 of 29 for 277 yards, 3 TD, 5 carries for 3 yards

Dallas Cowboys- QB Tony Romo- 34 of 51 for 374 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT

Houston Texans at Washington Redskins

- Donovan McNabb had a super game against the Texans secondary. He finished 28 of 38 for 426 yards and 1 TD. He should have another strong game as they travel to St. Louis.

- He found one of his favorites in the third quarter, as Chris Cooley caught a 22-yard TD. Cooley had 3 rec for 64 yards and a TD.

- Arian Foster was unable to repeat his amazing Week 1 but did have a good week. He had 19 carries for 69 yards and 3 rec for 69 yards. His 50-yard catch and run was a great example of what he can do in space.

- Matt Schaub showed why he was a great pick in fantasy drafts after a disappointing Week 1. He threw for 497 yards on 38 of 52 passes, 3 TD and 1 INT. He also ran once for 2 yards.

- Graham Gano had a FG blocked and missed a game winning FG in overtime. Gano did go 2 for 4 on FG with his makes coming from 27 and 41 yards. He had 9 points in the game.

- Andre Johnson showed why he is one of the best in the game. In this one, Johnson registered his 600th career catch. He had to leave for awhile because of an ankle injury but came back and was unstoppable. He caught 12 rec for 158 yards and a TD. Check the status of his ankle for Week 3.

- McNabb's other key target, Santana Moss caught 10 rec for 89 yards and had a carry for -8 yards.

- Joel Dreessen, the second tight end for the Texans, made a super grab over the middle in overtime. He had only the 1 rec for 28 yards.

- Neil Rackers sealed the win with a 35-yard FG. For the game he hit 3 of 4 FG and had 12 points. His made FG were from 47,43 and 35 yards and his miss was from 47 yards.

Houston Texans- QB Matt Schaub- 38 of 52 for 497 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 1 carry for 2 yards

Washington Redskins- QB Donovan McNabb- 28 of 38 for 426 yards, 1 TD

New York Giants at Indianapolis Colts

- Reggie Wayne had a decent game. He caught 7 rec for 96 yards and a TD. He'll have a tough matchup against Champ Bailey in Week 3.

- Donald Brown finally got more touches. He carried the ball 16 times for 69 yards and a TD. He also had 1 rec for 19 yards. Brown might be more of a factor in the Colts offense moving forward.

- Jospeh Addai looked alot better in this game. He didn't reach the end zone but rolled up a few yards. He had 20 carries for 92 yards and 2 rec for 21 yards.

- Dallas Clark was his usual solid self. He caught 5 rec for 83 yards and a TD. He could have a big day against the Broncos in the next game.

- The Colts defense played much better in their second game. They held the Giants to 14 points and 137 yards passing, had 1 INT, 2 fumbles recovered, 4 sacks and a defensive TD.

- Peyton Manning was surgical with his passes against the Giants. He was 20 of 26 for 255 yards and 3 TD.

- Austin Collie scored a TD just before the half. He wasn't used much as his stats were 4 rec for 25 yards and a TD.

- Ahmad Bradshaw was a bright spot for the Giants. He carried 17 times for 89 yards.

- Eli Manning looked the part of the little brother. He was 13 of 24 for 161 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT and 2 fumbles. He also ran once for 6 yards.

New York Giants- WR Mario Manningham- 4 rec for 75 yards, 1 TD, 1 carry for 2 yards

Indianapolis Colts- QB Peyton Manning- 20 of 26 for 255 yards, 3 TD

Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons

- Tim Hightower was just about the only positive thing about the Cardinals game. He tore down the field in the second quarter and out ran everybody on a 80-yard TD. He had a great game with 11 carries for 115 yards, 10.5/avg. and a TD. Also, 2 rec for 9 yards.

- Michael Turner's game was cut short by a groin injury and because the game was turning into a blow out. He had a nice afternoon with 9 carries for 75 yards and an 8.3/avg. Check his status for Week 3 to make sure it was a mild injury.

- Matt Ryan had an easy afternoon. He was 21 of 32 for 225 yards and 3 TD. He also ran 6 times for 6 yards.

- The Falcons defense came to play. They held Arizona to 7 points and 149 yards passing, had 3 INT and 2 sacks. Atlanta will have a much harder game this Sunday when they travel to New Orleans.

- WR Brian Finneran had 3 rec for 31 yards and a TD.

Arizona Cardinals- RB Tim Hightower- 11 carries for 115 yards, 1 TD, 2 rec for 9 yards

Atlanta Falcons- RB Jason Snelling- 24 carries for 129 yards, 2 TD, 5 rec for 57 yards, 1 rec TD

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers

- Josh Freeman continues to develop into a productive quarterback for the Bucs. His stats were not mind blowing but decent. He finished 12 of 24 for 178 yards and 2 TD. He also ran 4 times for 43 yards. He will be tested in Week 3 by a strong Pittsburgh defense.

- Matt Moore struggled again and was replaced in the 4th quarter by Jimmy Clausen. Moore's nightmare afternoon by the numbers was 6 of 16 for 125 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT and 1 fumble.

- Kellen Winslow caught 4 rec for 83 yards.

- Mike Williams had another good game for Tampa Bay. He ran through a bunch of defenders on his TD catch. He caught 2 rec for 54 yards and a TD.

- Jimmy Clausen did not fare much better in his time on the field. He was 7 of 13 for 59 yards and an INT. Clausen will start their Week 3 match up with the Bengals, so we'll get to see what he has in his first start.

- Jonathan Stewart carried 8 times for 43 yards.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers- QB Josh Freeman- 12 of 24 for 178 yards, 2 TD, 4 carries for 43 yards

Carolina Panthers- WR Steve Smith- 3 rec for 66 yards, 1 TD

Miami Dolphins at Minnesota Vikings

- The Dolphins defense was great. They held the Vikings to 10 points, had 3 INT, 1 fumble recovery, 3 sacks and a defensive TD.

- The Vikings defense was also very good and gave their team every chance to win the game. They held the Dolphins to 14 points ( 7 offensive) and 106 passing yards, had 2 fumble recoveries and 2 sacks.

- Adrian Peterson had a much better game than Week 1. He had 28 carries for 145 yards and a TD. Also, 5 rec for 41 yards. Peterson is a must start against a Lions defense that struggles to stop the run. He had 3 TD's against Detroit last year.

- Brett Favre continues to disappoint. He finished 22 of 36 for 225 yards and 3 INT. It would be wise to bench him until he is able to turn things around.

Miami Dolphins- QB Chad Henne- 9 of 15 for 114 yards, 1 TD

Minnesota Vikings- RB Adrian Peterson- 28 carries for 145 yards, 1 TD, 5 rec for 41 yards

Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions

- Michael Vick did not disappoint in his first start. He was 21 of 34 for 284 yards and 2 TD. He also ran 7 times for 37 yards. With that performance, he gets the start in Week 3.

- Jahvid Best looks like the real deal and has made a real fantasy football statement through the first two weeks. His line was: 17 carries for 78 yards and 2 TD, 9 rec for 154 yards and 1 rec TD. He has become a must start because he can put up great yardage and find the end zone.

- Shaun Hill played better than expected in his first start of the year. He was 25 of 45 for 335 yards, 2 TD and 2 INT. Added to that he ran the ball 3 times for 16 yards.

- LeSean McCoy countered Best's game with a great one of his own. He rushed 16 times for 120 yards, 7.5/avg and 3 TD. His receiving game left something to be desired as the 4 catches he made only went for 8 yards. I expect another good game from McCoy against Jacksonville.

- DeSean Jackson made some big plays of his own. He caught 4 rec for 135 yards, 33.8/avg and a TD. He also had 1 carry for 5 yards and 3 punt returns for 15 yards. I think Vick will keep looking deep for Jackson in the future.

- Jeremy Maclin was able to find the end zone. He had 3 rec for 26 yards and a TD.

- Brandon Pettigrew is continuing to develop. He had 7 rec for a career-high 108 yards. Hill might be developing a connection with the young tight end.

- The Lions did give up alot of big plays to the Philadelphia play-makers but did notch 6 sacks in this game.

- Calvin Johnson's production was reduced with Hill at QB but he did catch 4 rec for 50 yards, 1 TD and a 2-pt conversion.

Philadelphia Eagles- RB LeSean McCoy- 16 carries for 120 yards, 3 TD, 4 rec for 8 yards

Detroit Lions- RB Jahvid Best- 17 carries for 78 yards, 2 TD, 9 rec for 154 yards, 1 rec TD

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

- The Bengals defense really played excellent. They held Baltimore to 10 points and 150 yards passing, had 4 INT and 1 sack. They have another great matchup in Week 3, when they face Jimmy Clausen in his first start.

- Carson Palmer completed 16 of 35 for 167 yards. He spread the ball around nicely but it seems as though the Bengals want to play ball control and depend upon the running game and defense.

- Joe Flacco had another questionable game. He completed 17 of 39 for 154 yards, 1 TD and 4 INT. He also ran 3 times for 9 yards. I think Flacco will come back with a much better effort in Week 3 against Cleveland.

- Chad Ochocinco made his 700th career reception in this game. He finished with 4 rec for 44 yards.

- Ray Rice almost broke one in the 4th quarter but a shoe-string tackle tripped him up short. He had a much better game in this one, carrying 16 times for 87 yards and made 4 rec for 30 yards. Rice should also have a great game, when Cleveland visits Baltimore next weekend.

- Anquan Boldin was contained to 5 rec for 35 yards. It was not a productive day for the Ravens passing game.

- Bernard Scott made a key 4th quarter play when he returned a kickoff 60 yards. He also had 5 carries for 17 yards. Scott is a great player, his value would sky-rocket if something happened to Cedric Benson.

Baltimore Ravens- WR Derrick Mason- 1 rec for 31 yards, 1 TD

Cincinnati Bengals- RB Cedric Benson- 23 carries for 78 yards

St. Louis Rams at Oakland Raiders

- Sam Bradford played pretty good in his first road game. He completed 14 of 25 for 167 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT.

- The Rams defense held their own against the Raiders. They limited Oakland to 16 points, had 2 INT and 2 sacks.

- Bruce Gradkowski came in after halftime to replace Jason Campbell. He completed 11 of 22 for 162 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. It remains to be seen who will be Oakland's starter in Week 3. Keep on the watch for who is named starter.

- Mark Clayton looks like he is one of Bradford's favorite targets. Clayton caught 2 rec for 24 yards and 2 TD. If you need an emergency starter in Week 3, Clayton would be your man.

St. Louis Rams- QB Sam Bradford- 14 of 25 for 167 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

Oakland Raiders- WR Louis Murphy- 6 rec for 91 yards, 1 TD

Kansas City Chiefs at Cleveland Browns

- Seneca Wallace played decently in his first start. He completed 16 of 31 for 229 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. He also ran once for 4 yards. It remains to be seen who will be the QB when the Browns travel to Baltimore.

- Peyton Hillis is definitely the Browns goal-line back. He finished the afternoon with 8 carries for 35 yards and a TD. He also caught 3 rec for 26 yards.

- The Chiefs defense was pretty good. They held Cleveland to 14 points and 73 yards rushing, had 1 INT, 1 sack and 1 defensive TD. The Chiefs could have more chances at turnovers next week against the 49ers.

- Joshua Cribbs showed his big play ability but this time on offense. He caught a long bomb from Wallace for a 65-yard TD. His stats for the day were: 3 rec for 74 yards and a TD, 1 carry for 1 yard, 1 punt return for 5 yards and 1 kick return for 19 yards. Cribbs has the ability to make something happen when the ball is in his hands.

- Matt Cassel passed for more yardage but still made mistakes. He completed 16 of 28 for 176 yards and 2 INT. He also ran 4 times for 5 yards.

- Tony Moeaki was the Chiefs leading receiver with 5 rec for 58 yards. I am still really impressed with Moeaki.

- Ryan Succop kicked the game winning FG. He was perfect for the day with 3 FG, 1 XP and 10 points.

Kansas City Chiefs- RB Thomas Jones- 22 carries for 83 yards, 1 rec for 5 yards

Cleveland Browns- WR Joshua Cribbs- 3 rec for 74 yards, 1 TD, 1 carry for 1 yard, 1 punt return for 5 yards, 1 kick return for 19 yards

New England Patriots at New York Jets

- Tom Brady had a good first half but then the Jets really clamped down after halftime. Brady completed 20 of 36 for 248 yards, 2 TD and 2 INT. Brady should have a great rebound game against the Bills.

- Mark Sanchez responded very well to the pressure that was heaped on him during the week. He completed 21 of 30 for 220 yards and 3 TD. He also ran 4 times for 2 yards. This might be a game for Sanchez to build on.

- Randy Moss made a catch that only he could make, one-handed running out the back of the end zone. Moss had 2 rec for 38 yards and a TD. He should also have a big game against Buffalo next Sunday.

- The Jets defense was excellent. They held the Pats to 14 points and 52 yards rushing, had 2 INT, 1 fumble recovery and 1 sack. They should terrorize the Dolphins next Sunday night.

- Ladainian Tomlinson looked pretty good for the second straight game. He ran the ball 11 times for 76 yards and made 4 rec for 26 yards. It will be interesting to see if he can sustain this over 16 games.

- Jerricho Cotchery made 4 rec for 26 yards and a TD. He also ran it twice for 6 yards.

- Dustin Keller led the Jets in receiving with 7 rec for 115 yards and a TD. Keller continues to be the one that Sanchez seems to have the best connection with.

New England Patriots- QB Tom Brady- 20 of 36 for 248 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT

New York Jets- QB Mark Sanchez- 21 of 30 for 220 yards, 3 TD, 4 carries for 2 yards

Jacksonville Jaguars at San Diego Chargers

- Ryan Mathews left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury. His stats for the day were: 5 rushes for 26 yards and 2 rec for 29 yards. Check his status for Week 3.

- The Chargers defense was very opportunistic. They held the Jags to 13 points and 71 yards rushing, had 4 INT, 2 fumble recoveries and 2 sacks.

- Philip Rivers had another strong game. He completed 22 of 29 for 334, 3 TD and 2 INT. Rivers has another nice match-up next week against Seattle.

- Antonio Gates showed why he's one of the best tight ends in the league. He had 5 rec for 57 yards and 2 TD. Gates is solid week in and week out.

Jacksonville Jaguars- WR Mike Sims-Walker- 10 rec for 105 yards, 1 TD

San Diego Chargers- QB Philip Rivers- 22 of 29 for 334 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT

Seattle Seahawks at Denver Broncos

- The Broncos defense played very well. They held Seattle to 14 points, had 3 INT, 1 fumble recovery and 1 sack.

- Kyle Orton played another solid game. He completed 25 of 35 for 307 yards and 2 TD. He is a good QB2 in 2 QB leagues.

- Knowshon Moreno had a good game. He had 24 carries for 51 yards and a TD. Along with that, 4 rec for 67 yards. Moreno should have another strong game when the Colts come to town.

- The Packers defense played super against the over-matched Bills. They held Buffalo to 7 points and 62 yards passing, had 2 INT and 4 sacks.

Buffalo Bills- RB Fred Jackson- 9 carries for 39 yards, 1 TD

Green Bay Packers- QB Aaron Rodgers- 19 of 29 for 255 yards, 2 TD, 5 carries for 20 yards, 1 rush TD

Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans

- The Steelers defense brought their A-game into this one. They held the Titans to 11 points, 46 yards rushing and 192 yards passing. They also had 3 INT, 4 fumble recoveries and a kick return TD. The Steelers defense is a must start in Week 3 against the Buccaneers.

- Chris Johnson was completely shut down by Pittsburgh. He finished with 16 carries for 34 yards and 5 rec for 19 yards.

- Dennis Dixon left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury. His stats for the day were: 4 of 6 for 18 yards and 3 carries for 28 yards and a fumble. That might have been the last we see of Dixon this year, as Ben Roethlisberger returns in a couple weeks.

- Kerry Collins came in to finish the game. He completed 17 of 25 for 149 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. There is no QB controversy here, Vince Young will start in Week 3.
