Regular Fake Teams reader acr commented on our Mid Season Outfielder Rankings post that he disagreed with my projection that Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton will have a better second half than Rays outfielder Carl Crawford this season.
I ranked Upton higher than Crawford on the fact that Crawford's 2009 2nd half was worse than his first half. Let's take a look:
Crawford 1st half 2009-8 HRs, 39 RBIs, 44 SBs, 58 runs scored, .309-.367-.439
Crawford 2nd half 2009-7 HRs, 29 RBIs, 16 SBs, 38 runs scored, .300-.360-.470
I opined that I felt that Justin Upton would have a better 2nd half than Crawford this season, based mainly on the fact that he has underperformed my expectations this season. Here are his 1st/2nd half splits from 2009:
Upton 1st half 2009-16 HRs, 51 RBIs, 12 SBs, 55 runs scored, .301-.374-.544
Upton 2nd half 2009-10 HRs, 35 RBIs, 8 SBs, 29 runs socred, .300-.355-.514
Who has the better second half of 2010?
