Minor League Daily Update: Wednesday, 4/28/2010

Here is Wednesday’s group of minor league players.  Their statistics shown are for April 21 through April 28.  Some notable performances by Freddie Freeman, Austin Romine, Wil Myers, Wilmer Flores, Tanner Scheppers, Drew Storen, and Ethan Martin.

Whiff King (Greg Halman) is on the 7-day DL with an oblique strain.  Derek Norris has been out all year except for one game with a hand injury.  He is headed to extended spring training to start getting back into game shape.

Just a couple of quick notes:

  • Tanner Scheppers is ready for the next level of competition.  He has 19K’s vs. 0BB in 10 Innings of work.
  • Dan Hudson would like to forget his last two outings.  17 Runs in 5.1 IP – Yikes.
  • Ethan Martin continues to be good with 7K’s in 6 IP
  • Drew Storen more than holding his own with 2 saves this week and 4 saves for the year.
  • Wil Myers had an excellent week with 3HR and added a SB
  • Freddie Freeman had 4HR this week and could offer some help at First Base for the braves as soon as next year.
  • Derek Norris is on the mend – I am not sure if his play will affect how the Nationals draft (i.e. Bryce Harper – Harper is very athletic and can play pretty much everywhere and looks to have a bat that can play anywhere right now).
  • Greg Halman didn’t strike out much this week – he didn’t play due to injury.
I am planning on adding some players to a few of the days for some of the updates:  So far some guys who will be getting updated are Jordan Danks, Michael Brantley, Derek Holland, and Chris Davis - Feel free to throw out some other names of interest that haven't yet appeared on the daily updates and I can try to add them to one of the days.
