Fantasy Baseball: Saturday's Roto Roundup

Saturday's games were highlighted by a no-hitter thrown by Ubaldo Jiminez and the Mets-Cardinals played 20 innings on Saturday. Here are my thoughts after reviewing Saturday's boxscores:

It's official-Ubaldo Jimenez is an ace starting pitcher. He no hit the Braves on Saturday night with his last pitch of the game going 97 mph. He did walk 6 Braves in the no-hitter, and threw 128 pitches. I wonder if Yankees manager Joe Girardi would have left him in to pitch the 9th inning?

Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez returned from his hamstring injury and went 2-5 with 2 RBI. He is hitting .382 on the season. He is safe to start in all leagues now.

Nationals starter Livan Hernandez pitched a complete game shutout of the Brewers on Saturday, giving up just 4 hits and walking 2. I don't see Livan pitching like this for much longer.

Nationals infielder Christian Guzman is doing his best to stay in the lineup everyday, as he went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a SB. He is hitting .297 so far this season. Teammate Ian Desmond also had 2 hits in the game, while catcher Ivan Rodriguez is hitting over .400 after getting 2 hits and driving in 3.

Yankees starter AJ Burnett threw 7 shutout innings giving up 6 hits, 2 walks and striking out 7. Burnett is now 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA.

Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick went 3-5 with a HR, 3 RBI, a SB and 2 runs scored. He is hitting .317 on the season.

Meanwhile, third baseman Brandon Wood can't do anything right these days as he went 0-4 and made two fielding errors. Will Wood be playing in AAA by the end of April? I am sure there are major league teams willing to let him play everyday.

A's outfielder Rajai Davis went 1-5 with 2 runs scored and stole his 7th base of the season. How much longer does he get a chance to start with his .273 OBP?

Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds was 0-3 on Saturday with 3 strikeouts. He has struckout 15 times in his 40 at bats this season and is hitting .125. Yes, I paid $35 for Mark Reynolds in the UBA League. Ugh.

The Royals activated third baseman Alex Gordon on Saturday and he walked in his only AB on Saturday. When does Gordon reach the hype he received several years ago as a can't miss prospect? Anyone remember Sean Burroughs?

Twins closer Jon Rauch saved his 6th game of the season. If I had Rauch, I would try to deal him as his value may not get any higher than it is right now.

Some Mets-Cards boxscore stats

Jason Bay- 0-7 with 4 strikeouts

Albert Pujols-2-5 with 4 walks

Matt Holliday-0-5 with 3 strikeouts

P Kyle Lohse played LF while Joe Mather pitched two innings

Felipe Lopez played SS, 3B and pitched an inning

Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez got the win and Mets starter Mike Pelfrey got the save.
