Fantasy Baseball: Tuesday's Roto Roundup

Here are my thoughts after reviewing Tuesday's boxscores:

News out of New York says Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran has yet to be cleared for running drills after offseason knee surgery. Do we see him in a Mets uniform before June?

The White Sox offensive woes continue as they were almost no-hit by Toronto's Ricky Romero. Romero threw 7 no-hit innings before giving up a 2-run HR to Alex Rios in the 8th. All told, Romero struckout 12 batters, and has a 16/4 K/BB ratio in 15 innings pitched.

The Dodgers outfield of Manny Ramirez, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier all homered in yesterday's win over the Diamondbacks. Is that the best outfield in the majors? Kemp is well on his way to 30 HRs with 3 in the early going,, but with him hitting second in the lineup, his RBI chances won't be as plentiful.

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw struck out 7 in 5 1/3rd innings, and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, but he walked 5. He opened the 5th and 6th innings with back to back walks, one to the DBacks pitcher Ian Kennedy. Kershaw is still young enough to overcome these lapses, but they are frustrating to fantasy owners as his strikeout totals will be limited if he can only pitch 5 innings in most starts.

The Yankees hit 4 HRs in their home opener yesterday, with all 4 hit by left handed hitters Nick Johnson, Robinson Cano and Jorge Posada. Shocking.

Tigers rookie second baseman Scott Sizemore is hitting .316 in the early going with a K/BB ratio of 2/3. Yes, small sample size, but his stats are what you want to see out of a rookie.

Scott Posednik is hitting .452 so far this season, bu already has 6 SBs on ths season. It appears he has the green light, and he should be picked up if available in mixed leagues.

Ray's second baseman Sean Rodriguez turned heads with a hot spring training, but his spring training stats have not translated over to the regular season yet, as he is hitting just .176 so far.

Orioles catching phenom Matt Wieters batted 4th last night. He is hitting .345 with a 4/4 K/BB ratio. Could 2010 be his breakout season?

Mets SS Jose Reyes had 2 hits and a run scored in last night's loss to the Rockies. Jerry Manuel is talking about batting him 3rd again-good decision or bad decision?

The Rockies Seth Smith batted leadoff in place of injured Carlos Gonzalez and responded by going 2-5 with a HR and 3 RBI. Fellow outfielder Brad Hawpe injured his leg running the bases last night. How soon before the Rockies look to deal Hawpe?
