Fantasy Baseball: Monday's Roto Roundup

All kinds of injuries on Monday, along with the Padres scoring 17 runs vs the Braves. Here are my thoughts after reviewing Monday's boxscores:

The Blue Jays have put SS Aaron Hill on the 15-day DL with tightness in his right hamstring. He should be back on April 21st.

The Orioles decided to put second baseman Brian Roberts on the 15-day DL due to a strained abdominal muscle. His back is also bothering him so I wouldn't expect Roberts back anytime soon.

Albert Pujols hit another HR on Monday afternoon and drove in 4 runs in the Cardinals win over the lowly Astros. Two questions: Are the Astros the worst team in the NL? I think so. And, why does anyone pitch to Pujols with men on base? He now has 5 HRs and 14 RBIs in 7 games.

Astros pitcher Wandy Rodriguez continues to struggle as he gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks and no strikeouts. His ERA is over 6.00 now. I wonder if he is hurt.

Adam Wainwright shut out the Astros for 8 innings, striking out 7 and walking 1. He is now 2-1 with a 1.20 ERA. He is picking up where he left off last year.

Speaking of the Astros, Baseball Prospectus' Will Carroll is comparing Lance Berkman's injury to that of Carlos Beltran, and estimates he will be back by May 1st depending upon how much pain he can take.

Carroll also said that Diamondback's catcher Miguel Montero could be out at least a month, but could be out for the season if he experienced ligament damage. The fact that he is seeking a second opinion on his knee is worrisome.

The Twins opened their new Target Field with a win behind former Yankee and Marlin Carl Pavano who gave up just 1 run in 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and a walk vs the Red Sox. Pavano is now 2-0 on the season.

Red Sox DH David Ortiz went 1-4 with an RBI and is hitting .136 on the season. Another slow start for Ortiz. How long before the Red Sox look to make a deal?

The Red Sox could look to sign Rays outfielder Pat Burrell should the Rays waive him. The MLB network on XM175 reported the Rays are pondering waiving him and promoting Hank Blalock to take his spot on the roster.

Phillies SS Jimmy Rollins has a Grade 2 strain in his right calf and could be placed on the 15-day DL after he gets the results of Tuesday's MRI. Juan Castro figures to see much of the time as his replacement.

Ranger's new closer Neftali Feliz earned his first save of his career on Monday striking out a batter in his one inning of work. It will be interesting how long he remains their closer. Why waste his talent in a setup role?

How long will the Rangers put up with Julio Borbon and his .040 leading off everyday? Give him day off or move him down in the lineup.

Padres outfielder Kyle Blanks went 3-6 with a HR and 5 RBI in the Padres rout of Jair Jurrgens and the Braves. That's a nice way to break out of a slump. He's now 5-11 in his last two games.

White Sox outfielder Andruw Jones went 3-4 with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs on Monday. Wonder if he is available in the Fake Teams Mixed League?
