Happy Holidays to all Fake Teams readers!!
Keith Law held a chat on Thursday afternoon, so here are a few excerpts:
Charlie (Rhode Island)
Do you think Dominguez of Florida is the long term answer at 3B? Have a great holiday season.
Klaw (1:07 PM)
Defensively, he's ready now. But I'm concerned he'll never hit offspeed stuff well enough to be more than Pedro Feliz. I'd like to be wrong about that, but he's got a lot of minor league at bats without much if any improvement there.
The Marlins said at the winter meetings that they are ready to give Matt Dominguez a shot at third base in spring training. And Chris Coghlan in centerfield.
Eric Solomon (New York, NY)
there are some NY Yankees fans (myself among them) that feel there is an opportunity to expose some of the young pitching talent to the majors this year (given the whiff on Lee and potential retirement of Pettitte). If you were GM, and given your knowledge of the Yanks' system-wide pitching depth, would you endorse that road at this point?
Klaw (1:08 PM)
I'd love to see Nova get 5th starter time and Banuelos make some appearances later in the year.
With Brian Cashman whiffing on Cliff Lee and Andy Pettite leaning toward retirement, it appears the Yankees will get to see how ready Nova and Manny Banuelos are in 2011.
More after the jump:
Coach Cal (Lexington)
Clayton Richard: Continued improvement or step back in 2011?
Klaw
(1:18 PM)I like him a lot more now with the higher arm slot than I did when he was a low 3/4 slinger with Chicago.
Sleeper??
Stephen (Walnut Creek)
I know your top 100 isn't released for another month or so, but after the Greinke trade, how many Royals do you see cracking the list?
Klaw
(1:38 PM)I'm thinking six. Hosmer, Myers, Montgomery, Lamb, and Moustakas for certain.
KLaw goes on to say that the Royals have the best system for pitching in the 10 years he has been in the business. How soon before the Royals are contenders?
Doug M. (Milwaukee)
Did I give too much in Lawrie to the Jays for Marcum? Could i have not been able to use Lawrie for a better more established top of the rotation SP?
Klaw
(2:00 PM)I think you're severely underrating Marcum.
Agreed.
