Down On The Farm: John Sickels' Top 20 Cubs and Cardinals Prospects for 2011

John posted his Top 20 Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals Prospects over at Minor League Ball over the past week. He posted the Top 20 Cubs prospects last Monday and posted his Top 20 Cardinals prospects this past Monday.

Here is what he had to say about the Cardinals #1 pick in the 2010 amateur draft Zack Cox:

3) Zack Cox, 3B, Grade B-: It may seem weird to rank college hitter Cox behind high school arm Jenkins, but I guess I'm in a weird mood today. Plus, there is something about Cox that makes me think he might not quite live up to expectations.

It sounds like the prospect experts either like Cox alot-Jim Callis and Keith Law, and have questions about him-Sickels. Sickels goes on to add this comment about the Cardinals system:

You have Miller at the top, then a whole bunch of question-marks.

And here is what John wrote about former Cubs top prospect Josh Vitters:

10) Josh Vitters, 3B, Grade C+: I expect this will be controversial but he really needs to get things going, and age-relative-to-league is just one factor among many.

He has gone from the Cubs #1 prospect to #10....quite a drop. I think 2011 will be a make or break year for Vitters, and wonder if the Cubs may shop him while he still has some value.

Finally, I have posted my Top Fantasy Second Base Prospects over at Minor League Ball this morning. Head on over to Minor League Ball and let me know your thoughts.
