Heading into 2011 fantasy drafts, fantasy owners will find that there is plenty of power at the first base position with the likes of Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Joey Votto, Paul Konerko and Prince Fielder. But, to fill your fantasy roster, you must also draft a corner hitter, and Gaby Sanchez and Ike Davis may be a few guys you may want to look at come draft day.
Lets take a look at their stats for 2010:
Sanchez- 572 AB, 19 HRs, 85 RBIs, 72 RS, 37 doubles, .273-.341-.448
Davis- 523 AB, 19 HRs, 71 RBIs, 73 RS, 33 doubles, .264-.351-.440
Sanchez was not expected to win the first base job out of spring training, but did so, and hit very well in his first big league season. Davis started the season in AAA, but hit his way into the Mets lineup in April. Both are young first baseman, with Sanchez having the better approach at the plate, and Davis having more power, yet both had very similar seasons at the plate.
I own Davis in the UBA NL-only keeper league and can see him going 25-80 in 2011, while Sanchez could hit for similar power, but with a better BA. Who would you rather have in 2011?
