Fantasy Baseball: Top 5 Philadelphia Phillies for 2010

This is the first in a series of articles where we will break down the Top 5 fantasy players on each major league team. I will handle the National League teams, and Ian Youhanna will handle the American League teams. Ian and I also write for Fake Teams, an SB Nation site focusing on mainly fantasy baseball, but also does some fantasy football coverage.

So here are the Top 5 Philadelphia Phillies that fantasy owners should not forget come draft day:

1. Chase Utley-the best second baseman in baseball, fantasy or no fantasy. Can be counted on to go 30-90-20-.290 when healthy.

2. Ryan Howard-one of the best power hitters in all of baseball. He has averaged 47 HRs and 141 RBIs in the last 3 seasons, and that doesn't count his 2006 season where he went 58-149.

3. Roy Halladay-almost forgot the Phillies traded for Halladay this offseason. Pitching in baseball's toughest division, Halladay won 17 games in 2009, with a 2.79 ERA and a 1.126 WHIP. He should come close to or improve upon these stats in 2010.

4. Jayson Werth-Werth had a breakout season in 2009, hitting 36 HRs, stealing 20 bases, and driving in 99 runs. He is in his walk year in 2010, and will be playing for a Jason Bay-esque contract.

5. Jimmy Rollins-he had a down year in 2009, but still hit 21 HRs, stole 31 bases and drove in 77. I look for him to go 20-80-35 in 2010.
