Friday is Padre day here at Faketeams. The Padres have two guys in Kyle Blanks and Everth Cabrera who could really help fantasy/roto teams in 2010. Padres SS Everth Cabrera could be a source of cheap steals in 2010. At Single A-Asheville in 2008, Cabrera stole 73 bases in 89 attempts.
Cabrera looks like he could be a perfect leadoff hitter for the Padres next season. In each of his 4 minor league seasons, Cabrera had the following OBPs: .416 in 2005, .382 in 2006, .430 in 2007 and .361 in 2008. Since the All Star break, Cabrera has an OBP of .369 in 131 ABs, and has stolen 11 bases.
Here are the rest of his stats since the All Star break:
Player | AB | R | H | HR | RBI | BB | KO | SB | BA | OBP | SLG | OPS |
Cabrera, Everth SS SD | 131 | 19 | 37 | 2 | 13 | 17 | 28 | 11 | 0.282 | 0.369 | 0.466 | 0.835 |
Cabrera also has a very respectable K/BB ratio of 28/17, which, if he keeps this up, will keep him starting at SS for the Padres in 2010. I am sure he will be hyped going into 2010 drafts, but if he is still available after the 12th round, you may want to grab him. In NL only leagues, I can see him drafted around the 7th-9th rounds.
So instead of grabbing Nyjer Morgan or Michael Bourn in the early rounds, grab your power hitters and starting pitchser, wait a few more rounds and grab Cabrera.
