MLB Trade Rumors: Roy Halladay To The Phillies??

Well, Toronto Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi finally realized what was good for the team and Roy Halladay and is now willing to listen to offers for Halladay's services! Halladay may well be one of the top 2 or 3 starting pitchers in all of baseball, so you can expect plenty of teams to be in on the Halladay talks. Ricciardi is making a great decision here, as he manages a team playing in the toughest division in baseball. And no matter what other pitcher is made available before the trade deadline, he knows he has the best pitcher on the market, so he can just kick back and sip some Molson Golden's watching his Blackberry buzz all day and night.

Scott Lauber from the News Journal tweeted last night that the Blue Jays had a scout watching the Phils-Reds game last night, as J.A. Happ threw 7 solid innings. I am sure he would be in any deal for Halladay. In fact, I think the Phillies could offer the Blue Jays a a very nice package that included Happ, AAA P Carlos Carrasco, AA OF Michael Taylor and AAA SS Jason Donald.

That would be quite a package getting a major league starter in Happ, a major league ready starter in Carlos Carrasco, a 5 tool OFer in Taylor who could be in the big leagues as soon as next year, and a major league ready SS in Donald who is a very good fielder. Taylor is tearing it up at AA Reading to the tune of .339-.402-.582-.985 with 15 HRs, 62 RBI and 14 SBs. In fact, he was 3 for 4 last night with 2 RBI and 3 SBs. He also has a decent idea of the strike zone as he has a 48/28 K/BB rate.

Other teams that could be interested in Halladay's services include the Dodgers, Reds, White Sox, Red Sox, Twins, Angels, and the Brewers. But, I am not sure if any of these teams could top the package from the Phillies.

What do the fans over at The Good Phight and Blue Bird Banter think of this offer?
