Mike Vick Is Back! (Sort Of)

Michael Vick has been conditionally reinstated to the NFL!

The NFL has reinstated quarterback Michael Vick on a conditional basis, the league has announced.

Vick is permitted to sign with a team and participate in training camp, according to the league.

He is eligible to play in his team's final two preseason games and will be considered for full reinstatement by Week 6 of the regular season, according to the announcement.

According to the NFL, former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy has agreed to work with Vick as an advisor.

I would expect the full reinstatement time to depend on which team signs him and which owners carry weight in the league.  Redskins or Cowboys, he’s signed sooner.  Dolphins or Rams, he’s signed later.

I’ve been public with my belief that Vick has paid for his crimes and did his time.   I’m glad to see he’s close to being back in the league.

If he has signed with a team by the time your fantasy league drafts, he’s certainly worth a late-round flier.   I would say anytime in the last two rounds would be fine, although everybody in your league is probably thinking the same thing.

If he hasn’t signed with a team by draft day, you’ll want to pass on him.  But if you can maneuver your waiver wire position or save your FAAB money for Week 6, he could be the best guy available at that time.
