MLB Trade Rumors: Main Stream Media In On Adrian Gonzalez To The Red Sox

Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald finished an article on the Adam Laroche trade with the following quotes from Red Sox GM Theo Epstein and a trade rumor:

"As with most clubs, we plan to be very active in discussions," general manager Theo Epstein said yesterday. "Certainly, there are no guarantees we can find the right deal, but it won’t be for a lack of looking. We hope to make another move between now and the deadline, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to."

If another move gets made, it will be something that can upgrade the Sox not only this year, but for several seasons to come. One baseball source said the Sox have been very aggressive in attempting to deal for San Diego first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, but have been rebuffed. Another source suggested the asking price on Cleveland catcher/first baseman Victor Martinez is, at least currently, too prohibitive.

We posted this possible deal here at faketeams a few weeks ago, and now the beat writers are discussing the same possibility.

We posited that a deal for Gonzalez would have to include Clay Buchholz, Michael Bowden and Lars Anderson. Since then, we learned that Anderson's prospect star has fallen a bit, so let's throw in OF Josh Reddick in the deal.

Would that be enough for 2.5 seasons for AGonz?
