MLB Trade Rumors: D-Backs Deal Felipe Lopez To The Brewers

After a run on the boardwalk and day at the beach, I come back to an MLB trade that many expected today. In a deal that has been rumored for what seems like a few months the Diamondbacks dealt 2Bman Felipe Lopez to the Breweres for two minor leaguers.

From MLB.com:

Arizona will receive right-handed pitcher Roque Mercedes and outfielder Cole Gillespie.

Mercedes was 1-1 with a 1.08 ERA in 29 relief appearances in the Florida State League, while Gillespie hit .242 with seven homers and 27 RBIs for Triple-A Nashville.

The D-backs are expected to call up infielder Ryan Roberts to take Lopez's place at second.

Roberts had been up with the club earlier this season. Gillespie was one of the Brewers better prospects, but has not hit at AAA Nashville. I think the Diamondbacks made a good deal here as Lopez was not going to bring back much in the first place.

What I really wonder about is who plays 3B for the Brewers going forward. Casey Megehee or Mat Gamel?
