Who said to sell Mark Reynolds high? Two more homers from him last night. Can I give him a raise now?
SP, Jordan Zimmerman, Nationals-Zimmerman pitched 7 solid innings last night holding the Red Sox to one run on 5 hits while striking out 6. This guy is good. H ehas given up 2 runs or less in 5 of his last 6 starts, with a 37/9 K/BB ratio
1B, Joey Votto, Reds-Votto went 4 for 5 with a HR and 3 RBI. Votto couild still go 30-100 for you.
1B, Jake Fox, Cubs-Fox went 3 for 4with a HR and 3 RBI for the Cubs on Thursday. Where does he play when Aramis Ramirez returns? Lou Piniella has to get him in the lineup at least 4 times a week. I can see a scenario where he plays 1B, 3B, LF and RF spelling Derrek Lee, Ramirez, Alfonso Soriano and Milton Bradley at least once a week.
OF, Andrew McCutchen, Pirates-if McCutchen keeps hitting like this he will win the NL Rookie of the Year award. McCutchen went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and is now hitting .330 on the season with 18 RBI.
3B, Alex Rodriguez, Yankees-ARod went 3 for 5 with his 10th HR and 4 RBI on Thursday. Did he tape Buster Olney's article to his locker yesterday afternoon?
SS, Derek Jeter, Yankees-Jeter has 4 hits, 4 runs scored and his 17th SB of the season last night. Can he steal 40 bags??
SP, Jarrod Washburn, Mariners-Washburn pitched 6 solid innings in winning his 4th game of the season, striking out 6 and lowering his ERA to 3.22. GM Jack Zuridniek must be pleased.
1B, Adrian Gonzalez, Padres-Gonzo has had a good year for the Padres. Good enough that he broke the Padres record for walks in June with 28. Expect more of the same from Padres opponents.
SS, Hanley Ramirez, Marlins-HanRam went 3 for 5 with a HR, SB and 5 RBI last night. Hanley now has 11 HR and 47 RBI to go along with his .335 Avg and 11 SBs. Roto owners probably expected more HRs and SBs to this point, but you have to be happy with his Avg and RBI totals.
SP, Sean West, Marlins-West shut out the Orioles for 6 innings to win his 3rd game of the season. The Marlins rotation of Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, West, and Chris Volstadt may make some noise in the NL East race in due time.
3B, Mark Reynolds, Diamondbacks-Reynolds hit 2 more HRs and drove in 4 to bring his season total to 21 HRs and 53 RBI, and we are still more than 2 weeks to the All-Star break. We will see him playing during that break, I am sure.
