The Father's Day edition of the roto round up is highlighted by CC Sabathia leaving his start in Florida in the 2nd inning, and Albert Pujols going deep twice.
1B, Albert Pujols, STL-Pujols had 4 hits, 2 HRs and 6 RBI on Sunday. He now has 26 HRs, 68 RBI and is hitting .329. Sounds like the new # 1 pick in many fantasy drafts next spring.
OF, B.J. Upton, TB-Upton had 4 hits, including his 5th HR, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored vs the Mets on Sunday. Could this be the game that turns around his season?
3B, Brandon Inge, DET-Inge his his 16th HR of the season and now has 47 RBI to go along with a .274 Avg. I can think of other 3Bman that were picked ahead of him in many drafts this spring who he is outperforming. Plus he has catcher eligibility.
OF, Nate McLouth, ATL-McLouth had 2 hits on Sunday, and he had hit in 13 of 18 in the month of June, but only 2SBs to show for it. Will Bobby Cox allow him to run more going forward?
SP, Cole Hamels, PHI-Hamels pitched well enough to win on Sunday, but the PhIls bats are having trouble scoring runs of late, at home to boot. Hamels struck out 10 and allowed only 2 runs in 8 innings of work.
SP, Wandy Rodriguez, HOU-Wandy-Rod threw 7 quality innings vs the Twins in Minnesota, giving up only 2 hits, walking 3 and striking out 8 to win his 6th game of the season. He lowered his ERA to 3.18.
C, Geovany Soto, CHI-Soto hit his 5th HR of the season, and 4th in the month of June, and walked twice on Sunday. He has homered twice in the last 3 games, during which has has walked 5 times as well. Soto may be turning his season around.
3B, Jake Fox, CHI-Fox started at 3B yesterday and responded with a hit and 3 RBI. He played LF on Saturday, and it appears Lou Piniella wants his bat in the lineup at all costs. The Cubs offense has come to life of late and Lou Piniella may not want to change the lineup too much to see how long it lasts. It has been rumored that the Cubs may also be looking to move Alfonso Soriano to 2B to get Fox's bat in the lineup more. This would come at the expense of Mime Fontenot.
SP, C.C. Sabathia, NYY-Sabathia was pulled in the 2nd inning of his start vs the Marlins with bicep tightness. This bears watching. Paging Will Carroll.
3B, Chris Coghlan, FLA-Coghlan had 3 hits and scored 3 runs leading off for the Marlins on Sunday. His Avg is up to .272 now with an OBP of .370+. The Marlins may have found their new leadoff hitter.
