Saturday's roto round up comes to you as I listen to the Dead show in Quincy, WA.
OF, Raul Ibanez, Phi-Ibanez is making GM Ruben Amaro look very smart, as all the baseball experts laughed at the deal he gave Ibanez after they say what the Rays paid Pat Burrell this past offseason. Ibanez hit 3 HRs in the doubleheader vs. the Nats. Ibanez now has 13 HRs, 35 RBIs and is hitting .368.
1B, Mark Teixeira, NYY-Teixeira had 4 hits, 4 RBI and his 8th HR of the season in the Yankees win over the Twins for the 2nd day in a row.
CL, Trevor Hoffman, Milw-I don't recall hearing anyone say anything good about Hoffman this offseason. All he has done is save 9 games, with a 0.00 ERA.
SP, Johan Santana, NYM-Santana gave up 11 hits, 6 runs, 4 ER, and struck out 7 in winning his 5th game of the season.
3B, David Wright, NYM-Wright is officially on fire as he had 3 more hits on Saturday, along with 3 more RBI. He is now hitting .350 on the season with 27 RBI.
CL, Kevin Gregg, CHI-Gregg came on to pitch the 9 inning of a 4-0 game and proceeded to give up 4 hits, 2 HRs, and 4 runs. Manager Lou Piniella gave Gregg a vote of confidence after the game. But, Carlos Marmol struck out the side in the 8th. How soon before Marmol takes over as closer. Gregg's ERA is now over 6.00.
SP, Rick Porcello, DET-Porcello won his 4th game of the season, pitching 6 innings, striking out 5, walking 2, with his ERA dropping to 3.86.
OF, Josh Willingham, Was-Willingham started both games of the doubleheader vs the Phillies on Saturday. That m,ay be due to the fact that Austin Kearns has 2 hits in his last 21 ABs with zero RBI. Should Nick Johnson be traded, the Mets are rumored to be interested with Delgado on the DL, Willingham could be playing fulltime again.
CL, Matt Capps, PIT-Capps bounced back after an awful outing on Friday with a 10 pitch save, his 7th on the season.
SP, Rich Hill, Bal-Hill came off the DL to win his first start in 2009, throwing 5 2/3 innings, giving up 2 ERs, 7 hits, 2 BBs, and striking out 6. Hill could be the most added SP for the week of May 18th.
OF, Gerardo Parra, Ari-Parra went 3 for 6 with 3 RBI in the Dbacks rare win over the Braves. Parra started for the 3rd straight night. No signs of Chris Young in the lineup after his 0-4 night last night.
