Bad Beer In Paradise: Dolphins Sign On With Jimmy Buffett

New, 1 comment

The Miami Dolphins have signed a marketing partnership with Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville brand in an attempt to make the NFL experience in Miami a bit more inviting.

Buffett's Margaritaville enterprise includes LandShark Lager, brewed by Anheuser-Busch. Ross said the agreement to change the name from Dolphin Stadium is for this season only and expires before the stadium plays host to the Super Bowl in February.

So the Dolphins will be playing in LandShark Stadium for this season.  Have you ever had LandShark Lager?  It is absolutely horrible. Terrible!  I used to wonder if sharks urinated -- and then I had a LandShark Lager, now I don't wonder about it any more.   Here's some fantasy football advice: at your live fantasy football draft, don't be the guy who brings the LandShark.  You'll not only be mocked by your fellow owners, it will probably cause you to draft a Raider.

"We're going to be associated with Jimmy Buffett forever," Ross said. "That's what the important thing is."

Ross has invited Buffett to become a minority owner and said he doesn't know whether that will happen. Regardless, the singer will play a role in rebranding the franchise.

A Margaritaville area will be created at the stadium, with a goal of bringing Buffett's "unique culture" to games, Ross said.

Uh-huh. If I were the Dolphins, I'd make sure I kept the "unique culture" away from Ricky Williams.
