Monday's Roto Roundup: "That Ball Is Outta Here"

The headline pays tribute to Harry Kalas who passed away in the Phillies announcers booth in Washington yesterday. He was a voice I listened to for probably a few thousand games in my life living in South Jersey, and he had one of the great HR calls ever, in my opinion. I am not a Phillies fan ( the wife is though), but I was shocked to hear this news yesterday. My thoughts go out to his family and all Phillies fans. He will be missed.

Now on to the highlights from Monday's games:

Orlando Hudson-The O-Dog hit for the cycle in his first game as a Dodger in Dodger Stadium yesterday. How did he last so long in free agency? So much for concerns about his offseason wrist surgery.

Andre Ethier-Ethier his 2 HRs and drove in 4 in the Dodgers 11-1 win over the Giants. What is notable about his 2 HRs is that both were off LHers, one being The Unit. Maybe Joe Torre will put him back in the cleanup spot after this performance. While he is at it, he should move Kemp to the 5th spot and Martin down to the 7th spot.

Chad Billingsley-Billz struck out 11 Giants in 7 innings. Wish I went that extra dollar on him in UBA now.

Zach Duke-Duke shut out the Astros on 3 hits yesterday. For some reason Zach Duke and shut out just doesn't belong together. The Astros get shutout for the 2nd straight game.

Carlos Pena-as of this writing he is 3-4 with 2HRs and 6 RBI vs the Yankees.

Chin-Meng Wang-in one inning vs the Rays, Wang threw 61 pitches.....61 pitches!! He gave up 6 hits, 3 BBs, and 8 runs, and now has an ERA approaching 29.

Edwin Encarnacion-Encarnacion hit a grand slam off of Yovani Gallardo that landed in the 2nd deck in CF. This could be his breakout season.

Ubaldo Jimenez-with Ubaldo you have to take the good with the bad. Last week he pitched a gem, this week, not so much. In 3 2/3 innings, Jimenez threw 104 pitches, giving up 4 hits, 6 BBs, 3 runs, while striking out 5. It's not his fault his teammates only managed 1 hit vs the Cubs.

Dexter Fowler-he made his 2nd straight start in CF for the Rockies, with Ryan Spilborgh playing RF.

Mets Bullpen-why were JJ Putz and Francisco Rodriguez pitching in a game where the Mets were losing by a run? So what if its the first game in the new stadium.

Carlos Quentin-"Q" is picking up where he left off last year. He went 3-5 with 2 HRs and 4 RBI in the White Sox 10-6 win over the Tigers. Josh Byrnes HAS to be kicking himself with Justin Upton struggling.
