2009 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers

I'm thinking maybe these should just be called AL- and NL-Only sleepers?

OF Andruw Jones, Texas Rangers:  From Buster Olney:

Heard this: the chances of Andruw Jones making the Rangers might stand at about 60-40 right now, in favor of him sticking.

I'm buying for a buck or two.

1B Travis Ishikawa, San Francisco Giants:  With 10 SBs in AAA, Ishikawa has the chance to provide some SB from a position that rarely sees any player steal more than 5.  Amongst qualifying 1B with more than 250 ABs last season, just three stole 10 or more - Lance Berkman, Conor Jackson and Eric Hinske.  With little actual competition, Ishikawa should get the chance to become a member of that club.

OF Eric Byrnes, Arizona Diamondbacks:  Coming off a severe hamstring tear, the days of Byrnes stealing 50 are gone.  However, the Diamondbacks have ten million reasons to keep him productive.  As a Scrub in a Stars & Scrubs strategy, Byrnes plays the role admirably.

OF Luke Scott, Baltimore Orioles:  The O's brought in OF Felix Pie on the cheap.  If he can hit, he gives the Orioles the kind of defensive outfield that will prevent lots of extra base hits.  I'm not convinced he can fulfill the conditional.  Scott is going to get the chance to hit another 20+ HRs.

2B Asdrubal Cabrera, Cleveland Indians:  After a disappointing 2008, the 23-year-old enters 2009 with a defense-only reputation.  It wasn't that long ago that he slugged .4548 in AA, though, with 25 SBs, and slugged .475 in 141 AAA ABs last season.
