With the 6th pick in round 1 of the Fake Teams mixed league mock draft, I pick the Brewer's outfielder Ryan Braun. I chose Braun as I feel there is some position scarcity in the outfield in 2010, and Braun provides you 5 categories in 5x5 leagues, and has increased his RBI totals in each of the last 2 seasons, and hit the 20 marks in SBs in 2009.
In 2009, Braun went 32-114-20-.320 in 2009 with 113 runs scored. He increased his BB% from 6.4% to 8.2% and decreased his K% from 21.1% to 19.1%. He also increased his HR/FB% from 17.5% to 18.2%. One concern I have is his FB% dropped from 44% in 2008 to 34% in 2009, and his GB% increased from 39% to 47% in 2009.
Overall, Braun has the power to someday hit 40 HRs and still hit for a very high average with double digit steals. I thought about selecting Prince Fielder or Ryan Howard here due to their power, but Braun provides a nice combination of power and speed, along with a higher average.
