With Baseball America's 2009 Prospect Handbook shipping soon, the top prospects entering this season are soon to become common knowledge. However that doesn't mean I can't try to guess some of the Top 10 beforehand.

What the book may not list is the top prospects broken down by league. That is what especially caught my attention with the following two lists gleaned a Wednesday ESPN.com chat with John Manuel and Ask BA with Jim Callis. Each is NL-Only.

John Manuel's Top 10 National League minor league prospects:

  1. SP Tommy Hanson, Atlanta Braves
  2. OF Jason Heyward, Atlanta Braves
  3. SP Madison Bumgartner, San Francisco Giants
  4. OF Cameron Maybin, Florida Marlins
  5. 3B Pedro Alvarez, Pittsburgh Pirates
  6. OF Mike Stanton, Florida Marlins
  7. OF Dexter Fowler, Colorado Rockies
  8. OF Colby Rasmus, St. Louis Cardinals
  9. C Buster Posey, San Francisco Giants
  10. SS Alcides Escobar, Milwaukee Brewers

Jim Callis's Top 10 National League minor league prospects:
