MLB Rumors: Jake Peavy and Manny Ramirez Updates

Just a couple of brief trade and free agent signing rumors as we head into the three-day weekend.  Tracy Ringolsby of the Rocky Mountain News mongers a rumor that the Jake Peavy talks between the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs will resume once the sale of the Cubs is finalized.  As long as San Diego stays in fire sale mode, this continues to make sense.

Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times reports Dodgers' GM Ned Coletti spoke with Scott Boras "as recently as Monday".  He also writes the team is " pursuing starting pitchers Jon Garland, Braden Looper and Randy Wolf -- and to a lesser extent Andy Pettitte -- and relievers Luis Ayala and Dennys Reyes."

I like the signing of any of those pitchers by the Dodgers.  Most intriguing for the fantasy purposes would be seeing how Jon Garland does in a move from the AL to the NL.  Could he take his ERA to a fantasy-usable 4.00?
