Three Players To Focus On This Week

Now that Week 1 is complete, we know how the entire fantasy football season will turn out.   Michael Turner will run rampant over the league, the Jaguars running game will be useless, and the Bears will finish 16-0.

OK, maybe not that last one.

But while everybody else is busy on the "big stories" of Week 1 (Turner, Rodgers, Cassel), here are a few different guys to think about:

Jerious Norwood, RB, ATL - Turner was single-handedly destroying the Lions so they didn't really need to use Norwood until garbage time.  Ok, fair enough.  This week the Falcons face the Bucs and I want to see how much they use Norwood throughout the game.   If Turner has 14 carries for 65 yards through the 3rd quarter and Norwood still hasn't been on the field, it looks like Jerious will get screwed on playing time again this season.

Laurence Maroney, RB, NE - With the Patriots' offense moving from "Air New England" to "Let's Go Greyhound", you would expect Maroney to see 25 carries a game right?  Right?  Hmmm, maybe not.   There's reason to believe we'll see a lot of Sammy Morris and maybe some Kevin Faulk.  And maybe some Heath Evans.  If Maroney isn't getting at least 20 carries a game, he's going to look very overrated.

Justin Gage, WR, TEN - Kerry Collins isn't Vince Young, which is kind of the point.  Collins should carve up the Bengals this week which should mean good things for Gage.  The Titans don't have anybody you can call fantasy-worthy at WR with Young at the helm, but they probably will with Collins.
