Spring Training Boxscores: Fantasy Notes - David Price

David Price made his professional debut and did not disappoint.  He struck out the side in one inning of work.  He hit the first batter he faced, Frank Cervelli.  Jason Lane saw three pitches - 99 MPH, 97 MPH and 99 MPH.  Wilson Betemit saw 97 MPH cheese and struck out on a 70 MPH pitch.  Price looks like the real deal.

If you can access MLB.tv, Price pitches at the 2:38 mark in the game.

Price has a rearing back in his delivery, and he finishes fairly straight-up.  Anyone know if this is mechanically sound?

  • Wandy Rodriguez struck out 5 Braves in 4 innings of work.  I think he will be a 160K sleeper for those in deeper 5x5 leagues.
  • Albert Pujols was not in the line-up for the 20-6 beating the Dodgers administered this afternoon.  This could be the Cards line-up if Albert's elbow no longer cooperates. (In interleague play at an AL team, of course.)
  1. LF Colby Rasmus
  2. 1B John Mather
  3. CF Rick Ankiel
  4. 3B Troy Glaus
  5. DH Juan Gonzalez
  6. RF Ryan Ludwick
  7. C  Yadier Molina
  8. 2B Adam Kennedy
  9. SS Cesar Izturis
  • Lastings Milledge stole two bases today and has four so far.  If he runs this year, he is going to become a top OF pick in the 2009 fantasy drafts, and the Mets will look like fools for trading him for a platoon OF and a no-hit catcher.
  • Chase Headley hit his 2nd HR of the Grapefruit League and is now hitting 500 this Spring.  He should be in any 2008 ROY discussions very soon, and begin travelling up the ADP chart as a resutl.
