Spring Training Boxscores: Fantasy Notes

* Matt Kemp hit 8th again.  This is the third time this spring.  Here was the line-up:

  1. Juan Pierre
  2. Raphael Furcal
  3. Russ Martin
  4. Jeff Kent
  5. Andruw Jones
  6. James Loney
  7. Nomar Garciaparra
  8. Kemp
That looks a lot like last season's line-up doesn't it?
  • Carlos Gomez went 1-2 with a 2B and SB while hitting with the A Team.  Trade justification has been suggested as a good tiebreaker in the CF battle.  I tend to agree.
  • Jeremy Bonderman pitched three scoreless innings.  There couldn't be any left over effects from his late season shutdown if he went three innings, could there?
  • Noah Lowry walked nine batters in an inning.  That screams injury.  With serious fantasy players shying away from Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain because of concerns about Wins, I doubt anyone had Lowry anyhow.
  • Rich Harden threw three innings today.  I didn't see it, but that is what the boxscore says.
  • Jeff Baker replaced Marcus Giles at 2B in this afternoon's win over the Diamondbacks.  With Jayson Nix hitless so far, will this be the beginning of Baker's climb to the starting job?
  • I keep seeing "LaHair 1B" in the Mariners' boxscores and don't know who it is.  Bryan LaHair is a 25-year-old, 6'5 220 lb lefty 1B with a slashstat line of 275/332/431 in the Pacific Coast League last season.
