Spring Training Boxscores: Fantasy Notes

New, 6 comments

The Nationals used RHP Jack Hanrahan as a short reliever again today.  He has yet to allow an earned run in games that count towards Spring Training stats.  In 10.2 innings, he has 13 Ks and just two walks.

For those in search of that $1 second catcher with little chance to harm you (or help), Dane Sardinha backed-up the Tigers' Ivan Rodriguez.

Marlins' rookie Cameron Maybin went 0-5 and is hitting .190 this Spring.  It is time for him to be reassigned, which he was just recently.

With news that 2B Freddie Sanchez is still experiencing pain in his throwing shoulder, the starting 2B job could be open in Pittsburgh.  Starting today?  Luis Rivas.  Backing-up?  Chris Gomez.  That is embarrassing.

Rockies' back-up catcher Chirs Iannetta his his 3rd Cactus league HR and is now hitting .344.  Am I the only one who thinks Yorvit Torrealba will be a $4MM back-up by 2009?
