Who are the starting pitchers you must avoid in this year's drafts? I ask this question because I was recently tempted into accepting an offer of a $1 Miguel Batista.
He won 16 games for the Seattle Mariners last season, and there were only 16 other pitchers in all of baseball who won at least that many. But, and it is a BIG BUT, his WHIP was 1.52! And it was that high the season before. To make matters worse, he threw 190+ innings in both seasons. To me this puts him in contention for the worst starting pitcher in all of fantasy baseball.
To get an idea of which other pitchers may join Batista is that realm, I looked at pitchers who threw more than 149 innings last season and had a WHIP greater than 1.45. I then looked at that list to see who had a WHIP greater then 1.45 the season before. Here the dozen rotten eggs of Starting Pitching.
Avoid at all costs!
