Spring Training Boxscores: Fantasy Notes

The Nationals started Rob Mackowiak in LF.  I suspect he will be the back-up behind Elijah Dukes until Wily Mo Pena returns.  More interesting, though, is Lastings Milledge stole his 6th base this month.

For those who are interested in Games Finished, Oscar Villareal pitched the 9th for the save after Jose Valverde pitched the 7th and 8th innings.  A couple more GFs or 8th inning appearances ahead of Valverde and we will have the Astros' back-up closer determined.

The Twins' CF Carlos Gomez stole his 10th base this Spring.  With a .286 AVG, one has to think he is winning the starting job, and pushing his draft value in AL-Only auctions towards $20.

Indians' LF/RF Ben Francisco hit his 3rd Grapefruit League HR.  He also sports anotable .378 AVG.  Unless Dave Dellucci or Jason Michaels is dealt or injured, Francisco will find himself in AAA.  If he does, he will be one of the key call-ups in AL-Only formats.

For thsoe who hope to see Cubs' 1B Derrek Lee return to his base stealing ways, he swiped his 1st this Spring.  Yeah, that doesn't offer much hope when three weeks pass before his 1st is stolen.

Eugenio Velez has stolen 13 bases so far.  He is playing his way out of cheap steals status in NL-Only leagues.
