In his first Spring Training appearance since being named a reliever, the Yankees' Joba Chamberlain pitched a scoreless frame and struck out three. Given Joba did not pitch that well preparing as a starter, is it possible he performs better in when he knows he only needs to go for an inning?
The San Francisco Giants' 2B Eugenio Velez stole his 11th base today. There is little reason to believe he will not play a role with the in-need-of-excitement Giants. Who knows? Maybe he can be the disruptive force on the bases that Ol' Schoolers believe base stealers to be.
LA Angels presumptive SS, Erick Aybar, hit his 3rd HR of the Grapefruit League. Combined with 3 SB and a .289 AVG, he has "won" the competition.
Going seven innings for the Angels, rookie Nick Adenhart made a case to be considered for the 5th starter's job. He allowed just four hits and struck out six. Granted, he did it against the Giants, but the Giants did start a possible Opening Day line-up. If Moseley struggles, do not be surprised to see Adenhart broken in this year.
Juan Uribe is back in the White Sox line-up. Fortunately for them because 2B Danny Richar will be out 4-6 weeks with a cracked rib.
