Spring Training Boxscores: Fantasy Notes

  • Yunel Escobar is hitting .514 after today's 1-2 effort.  His one hit was a grand slam.  He's good for one category, AVG, but any HR and SB over five will be gravy.
  • The Pirates hit C Ryan Doumit in the clean-up spot again.  If that is the best the Pirates can do when Bay and LaRoche don't play, then Steve Pearce has to be kept up.  He stole a base today, too.
  • Yankees' AAA CF, Brett Gardner, stole two more bases this afternoon.  He has five on the season.  Very deep AL-Only leagues need to keep him on the radar for cheap speed.
  • Eugenio Velez stole his 8th and 9th bags of the Spring.  He went for $7 in NL LABR and could go for more if he keeps this up - even without a startign job.
  • Franklin Morales threw a stinker days after reports come out that his velocity has been down.  10 hits and 9 runs in 2.2 innings will not quell those whispers.
  • Rich Harden threw five innings today and struck out five.  Don't believe.  It will only bring you heartbreak.
