Baseball America Top 100 Prospects - Centerfield

Baseball America's Top 100 is out and available to non-subscribers. There are so many wasy to slice and dice it, I can't decide which one to do.

Behind the subscriber wall, BA has ranked each prospect by postion. What impressed me was the coming wave of centerfielders. There are six who have ETAs of 2008 or 2009. The four of the six should be very familar to those preparing for their upcoming drafts. However, the other two shouldn't be ignored.

In Atlanta, Jordan Schafer has a gimpy and powerless Mark Kotsay blocking him from making the jump from AA to the majors just as Jeff Francouer and Brian mcCann did three years ago. Andrew McCutcheon's path to Pittsburgh is only slightly better defended by Nate McLouth. In his McCutcheon's favor is a full season of AA already under his belt, and a Pirates roster that would make the most diehard Pirates fan struggle to stifle a yawn.
