Wow. Ranking outfielders is much more challenging. There are just too many to easily sort them into tiers. Part of it the fact that a 4th OF has three opportunities to get a starting job which would immediately boost his value.
The moment Giants' OF Dave Roberts or Aaron Rowand or Randy Winn gets hurt, Rajai Davis immediately goes to the $23-29 tier based on his 40+ SB ability. This immediate increase in value can be sighted for any 4th, and sometimes 5th, OFers.
What is as hard is looking at the $23-29 tier and thinking most of them can be $30 players with just a touch more inflation or enthusiasm. Braves' OF Jeff Francouer is listed by Baseball Prospectus' Joe Sheehan as one of the top candidates to breakout in 2008. Sheehan has a national soapbox and that could easily nudge Frenchy to the top tier of OFers.
