MLB Rumors: Manny Ramirez And Mark Teixeira

George A. King III of the New York Post reports this on the Manny Ramirez to the New York Yankees signing front:

The possibility that Manny Ramirez becomes a Yankee isn't out of the question. But in order for it to happen, a whole lot of talking has to go on between the club and agent Scott Boras.

"It's not impossible, but there haven't been a lot of discussions," a source said. "Right now they aren't talking."

I think those "buts" are Whole Lotta Rosie big buts (42-39-56).

In Mark Teixeira news, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun writes that the Orioles have flexibility to increase their initial offer. Quoting Orioles' president Andy MacPhail:

"If they [Scott Boras] came back to us and told us what it would take and we thought that it made sense for us, then, yes" the original offer could be altered."

While that is solid information, I think MacPhail's follow-up quotes are the wisest, especially in light of the recent Manny Ramirez rumors. MacPhail says:

"You hear so many different things from day to day. Yesterday we were the favorites, today you are out. You learn to ignore it and deal with the facts as they become available to you."
