The Winter Meetings ended with Mark Teixeira having received 7 or 8 offers according to his agent Scott Boras, and Manny Ramirez threatening to retire because teams don't want to give him 4 or five years at one of the top salaries in the game. While I am sure Mr. Ramirez is disappointed, doesn't he realize he is only getting those offers once his agent satisfies the needs of his top client, Mark Teixeira?
Without the disappointment of the teams who need offense and lose out on Teixeira, Manny has no chance of landing a three plus year deal. Instead of stroking his client's ego, Scott Boras is tryng to create a market for Manny where none currently exists. Too bad Manny doesn't seem to know this.
Of course, this only works if the Los Angeles Angels lose out on Mark Teixeira and are left with a huge hole in their offense because the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Nationals, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are not in the market for what Manny Ramirez offers - a huge bat, a bad glove and a questionable attitude. Hopefully, Teixeira doesn't want to be an Angel
