Erik Bedard Has Been Traded!

Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times is reporting Adam Jones is flying to Baltimore for a physical.  He grabs a direct quote from Jones thanks to a good working relationship with the Venezuelian paper Diario Panarama.  Jones says:

"(Bill Bavasi) called me yesterday and told me the news. I've got to go to Baltimore tomorrow morning and handle things there. I'm the centerpiece of the deal on the Mariners side. It's an honor to get traded for such a highly talented pitcher as Bedard is. He's one of the best. Last year he finished up as arguably one of the top candidates for the Cy Young. He's that good, so for me it's an honor. You know, I like Seattle, but if I am in Baltimore, as I think now I am, I'm going to embrace it and have the best time of my life in Major League Baseball."

Update [2008-1-28 6:50:13 by Eric Hz]: O's GM Andy MacPhail is denying the trade. However, I suspect he is doing it in the Clintonian tradition of depends what the definition of 'is' is.

Update [2008-1-28 7:56:5 by Eric Hz]: From here. The done is all but done and the O's landed Adam Jones, Chris Tillman, George Sherrill, Tony Butler and Kameron Mickolio. Good news for George Sherrill owners in keeper leagues. He should be the favorite to close.

More details later.
