2008 Fantasy Baseball: Hitters Rankings II Part 2

New, 2 comments

After the Top 45 Hitters Rankings II showed players whose 2007 seasons ranked much better than their 3-year weighted average performances, I decided to check out the next 45. The differences are even greater than those demonstrated by Ryan Braun, Troy Tulowitzki and even Adam Dunn, whose 2007 ranked 39th versus a 98th place ranking over three years. (ed: Amazing what a .264 AVG does for Dunn's value, isn't it?)

Amongst some possible sleepers are those whose differences are the greatest. These reflect very strong recent performance but weaker ones when experience is factored in. This list includes Atlanta Braves 2B Kelly Johnson (64 v. 176), Milwaukee Brewers' SS JJ Hardy (70 v. 191) and Arizona Diamondback Chris Young (77 v. 186).

Does comparing performance rankings this way give better information than providing either method separately?
